THIS IS A CONTINUOUS RECRUITMENT POOL FOR APPLICANTS INTERESTED INTEMPORARY CLINICAL EDUCATOR WORK WITH THE SPEECH-LANGUAGE HEARINGSCIENCES DEPARTMENT AT MSU DENVER. THE NUMBER OF THESE TEMPORARY,PART-TIME OPPORTUNITIES VARIES DEPENDING UPON THE NEEDS OF THEPROGRAM. AS SUCH, NOT EVERYONE IN THE RECRUITMENT POOL WILL BECONTACTED OR SELECTED FOR A ROLE.

About the Department

The Speech, Language,Hearing Sciences department prioritizes values that reflectthose of the university at large including a shared commitment tocommunity, accessibility, diversity, respect and excellence(cadre). We are a collaborativeteam that includes four full-time faculty, three full-time clinicaleducators, and a talented group of professional staff and part-timeaffiliates. We offer both an undergraduate degree in speech,language, hearing sciences and a graduate degree in speech-languagepathology, with an optional concentration in bilingual(Spanish-English) service provision. The Bookhardt FamilySpeech-Language Clinic is a no-cost, on-campus clinic that supportsthe greater Denver-metro community.

Our department strives to improve how knowledge is translated fromthe classroom to the clinic by breaking down traditionaleducational silos. We encourage students to join faculty inclinical research and advocacy efforts. These collaborativeprojects have received external funding and been shared withnational audiences. With the newly launched simulation and skillslab and the opening of the Gina and Frank Day Health InstituteTower in Fall 2027, there are significant opportunities forinterprofessional partnerships and community-servingprograms.

Position Summary

The Department of Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences (SLHS) and theMaster of Science in Speech Language Pathology (MS-SLP) program ofMSU Denver seeks speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to bepart-time clinical educators. This is an hourly position with nobenefits with varying hours per week, on an as-needed basis (PRN).Applicants must be able to work in-person, on campus in Denver,Colorado.

The Department is particularly interested in applicants who haveexperience working with clients across the lifespan and fromdiverse backgrounds, along with a demonstrated commitment toimproving access to higher education for under-represented groups.Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Applicants will provide as-needed supervision of graduate studentclinicians in the MSU Denver Speech Language Clinic and/orcommunity-based sites as they provide speech-language andcognitive-communication interventions for clients across thelifespan. Clinical Educators will review lesson plans and clinicaldocumentation and provide timely feedback to graduate studentclinicians. Clinical Educators must be committed to graduateclinical education and current professional practices anddemonstrate ability to quickly learn and use several differenttechnology platforms including Canvas, ClinicNote, VALT andCalipso.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in speech-language pathology
  • Certification from American Speech, Language, HearingAssociation (ASHA)
  • Have completed a minimum of nine months of practice experiencepost-certification and meet ASHA's 2020 Standards for supervision,including the self-attestation on the ASHA website



Preferred Qualifications
  • At least two years of experience mentoring graduate studentsand/or novice speech language pathologists
  • Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of adiverse urban student population including (but not limited to)students of color, LBGTQIA students, students from low-incomebackgrounds, first-generation students, students with disabilities,undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans,and English-language learners.


Schedule Information

This is a student-facing position. While virtual supervision may bepossible at times, applicants must be able to work in-person, oncampus in Denver, Colorado for the majority of student meetings andsupervision.

Work hours vary dependent upon departmental and programneeds.

Salary for Announcement

Hourly position paid at $45/hour for time as needed (PRN)
