Job summary

Children's Health Dallas is seeking a Clinical Educator (Cardiac ICU) to lead clinical staff education and lifelong learning programs. The role emphasizes onboarding, competency development, and evidence-based education tailored to cardiac ICU teams.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of related clinical experience, plus a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree, and relevant life-support certifications as required by the department.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years related clinical and/or nursing experience.
• Masters degree preferred; Bachelor's degree essential.
• Required licensure/certification for clinical practice (e.g., ACLS/NRP/PALS as applicable).

Responsibilities

• Onboarding/Orientation: develop, coordinate, manage, facilitate, and evaluate onboarding and orientation programs for clinical staff.
• Competency Management: develop and evaluate initial and ongoing competency programs for clinical personnel.
• Education: design and evaluate educational activities based on practice gaps using adult learning principles.
• Professional Role Development: support lifelong learning, role transition and skill mastery.
• Quality Improvement/Evidence-based Practice/Research: integrate evidence into educational design and support research and quality initiatives.
• Collaborative Partnerships: consult and coordinate with departments and institutions on education and learning.

Summary

The Clinical Educator is a professional development specialist whose primary responsibility is to facilitate lifelong learning and professional development activities among clinical staff. Through the application of adult learning theory and strong instructional design, the Clinical Educator's work results in measureable program outcomes in areas such as new hire orientation, ongoing competency, in-services, continuing education, career development, scholarship/research, and academic partnerships.

Responsibilities

• Onboarding/Orientation: The Clinical Educator develops, coordinates, manages, facilitates, conducts and evaluates onboarding and orientation programs for clinical personnel including transition-to-practice programs for novice or new graduate clinicians.
• Competency Management: The Clinical Educator develops, coordinates, manages, facilitates, conducts and evaluates initial and ongoing competency programs for clinical personnel.
• Education: The Clinical Educator designs, implements and evaluates educational activities and programs based on identified practice gaps for a specific target audience. The Clinical Educator utilizes knowledge of educational theory and adult learning principles to enhance the professional development of clinical personnel.
• Professional Role Development: The Clinical Educator identifies and develops strategies to facilitate a continuous process of growth through lifelong learning including: role transition, role integration, skill acquisition and skill mastery.
• Quality Improvement/Evidence-based Practice/Research: The Clinical Educator integrates the best research evidence into didactic and clinical education design. The Clinical Educator promotes and participates in research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives in the clinical setting.
• Collaborative Partnerships: The Clinical Educator consults, advises, teaches and coordinates with other individuals, groups, departments and/or institutions concerning education and learning.

How You’ll Be Successful:

• At least 3 years related clinical and/or nursing experience Required
• Documentation of previous teaching experience Preferred

EDUCATION

• Masters Degree Preferred
• Bachelors Degree Essential

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Essential State or national licensure/certification for clinical professional practice (ex. RRT, PT/OT/SW, MLS (ASCP), etc.)
• Essential ACLS/NRP/PALS - PALS or NRP based on specialty area requirements New employees must obtain life support department specific certification within 6 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support-2R-BLS Essential Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements
