The Clinical Education Specialist (CES) utilizes nursing arts and sciences, child development, education, psychosocial, and cultural theories to facilitate the delivery of comprehensive clinical care to patients and families at the unit level. They work independently, and in partnership with unit leadership and colleagues across departments. The CES provides expertise in education, educational design, adult learning theory, and scholarly inquiry. Major role responsibilities include competency management, education, role development, orientation/onboarding, research/EBP/QI, and collaborative partnerships.
The Transformative Therapeutics team at Children's Hospital Colorado is advancing the future of pediatric care through innovative therapies, including gene therapy, cell therapy, personalized medicines, and other complex treatment modalities. Working in close partnership with the Clinical Translational Research Center (CTRC) and research teams across the organization, the department supports the safe implementation of clinical trials, novel therapeutics, and emerging treatment protocols. The team also supports therapeutic apheresis services, a specialized procedure used to collect, modify, or remove blood components as part of treatment and research initiatives. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, education, quality oversight, and process standardization, the department helps ensure the safe, effective delivery of cutting‑edge therapies while advancing a culture of excellence in pediatric research and precision medicine.
The Clinical Education Specialist is in support of Clinical Research and Transformative Therapeutics (gene therapy, cell therapy and medications with complex administration).
