Job summary

Children’s Colorado is seeking a Clinical Nurse to serve as a system‑wide resource across Acute Care, Critical Care, Emergency/Network of Care, and Ambulatory areas. You will provide patient and family centered care and may be reassigned between units to meet census and acuity needs.

The role requires a BSN with two years of pediatric nursing experience, Colorado RN license, and BLS/CPR; ACLS and PALS are required within six months.

As part of the Clinical Resource (CR) Team, the Clinical Nurse serves as a system-wide resource, providing patient care within defined cohort areas: Acute Care, Critical Care, Emergency/Network of Care, and/or Ambulatory clinical areas. The Clinical Nurse has the clinical knowledge, skills, and competencies to provide nursing care commensurate with the unit, department, and division expectation.

The Clinical Nurse may begin their shift in one unit and based on a change in census and acuity be reallocated to a different unit to meet operational needs. However, it is also possible for the Clinical Nurse to experience extended periods of time in one department to offset long-term absences through the Months Program.

  • Position Status Multiple FTEs available. Must work 20 hours/week to be eligible for benefits
  • Shift Acute Care cohort - Night shift 6:45pm- 7:15am Critical Care cohort - Night shift 6:45pm- 7:15am
  • Salary Information Hourly range: $38.34 to $57.51 per hour Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
  • Eligible Incentives Up to $4,400.00 in relocation benefits (100mi. or greater) for qualifying positions

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Delivers patient and family centered nursing care in one or more clinical areas while incorporating developmentally appropriate, culturally sensitive, evidence-based care practices and methodologies. Anticipates and responds to changes in patient outcomes in the provision of care.
  • Communicate and advocate patient values, preferences and expressed needs as part of implementation of care plan, evaluation of care and assessment of patient/family learning needs to the interdisciplinary team. Initiates and anticipates individualized care and education for patients/families across the continuum using an interdisciplinary approach. Communicates unit/department specific information to appropriate stakeholders to support patient care and overall operations.
  • Build and maintains strong working relationships with multidisciplinary healthcare providers to provide individualized patient/family care and education while minimizing risks to the patient during transitions of care.
  • Researches, compiles, and analyzes data and prepares case records, reports, and correspondence to facilitate communication, clinical decision making, error prevention, and care coordination.
  • Collects, monitors, and reports on quality of care outcomes and measures; provides input into the continuous evaluation and improvement of internal quality and safety processes, procedures, and performance measures.
  • Ensures compliance with clinical policies, procedures, and best practices to minimize the risk of harm to patients and providers.
  • Researches, identifies, and implements evidence-based practice to improve the quality of care provided to patients/families.
  • Minimize risk of harm to patients and providers through both system effectiveness and individual performance.
  • Agents of change within the organization, professional development and supports organizational goals.
  • Fosters the sharing of best practices and advances in clinical care between clinical areas of practice.
  • Builds and fosters collaborative relationships between areas of clinical practice.
  • Serves as an ambassador for the Staffing Resource Team by seeking feedback and recommendations on how the team can support units/departments in achieving the goals/objectives for that area.
  • Communicates areas of opportunities to improve professional practice to key stakeholder groups with the goal of advancing healthcare outcomes.
  • Complies with and abides by the unit/department specific policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Actively engages in unit/department activities while providing services in that area.
  • Continuously seeks opportunities to advance knowledge and skills to be able to provide the timely, efficient, effective, safe, and person-centered care in areas where she/he is assigned to provide care.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degrees
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Experience
    • Two years of pediatric nursing experience aligned to cohort.
    • Pediatric Critical Care experience preferred
  • Licenses & Certifications
    • Current Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license.
    • BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire
    • ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
