The Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Neurological Surgery provides world-class clinical care, education and research in neurosurgery and related neurosciences. Researchers in the Department of Neurological Surgery are passionate about developing innovative techniques and increasing the success of proven treatments to give patients the best chance for healing and recovery. Whether through clinical and laboratory research projects or involvement in multi-center clinical trials and databases, neurological surgery researchers dedicate their life's work to advancing treatment solutions in this critical area of medicine. Faculty and staff are participating in several nationwide clinical trials.
Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Directly supports the neurosurgery residency program and fellowships
- Works directly with the residency faculty program director
General Responsibilities
- Identifies areas for programmatic improvement and develops and implements initiatives to address weaknesses
- Establishes program-specific policies and procedures for candidate recruitment
- Acts as a liaison between internal and external constituents; develops and manages external relationships with medical community
- Creates research opportunities and tracks progress ensuring learning opportunities for students and residents
- Responsible for logistics of the student and resident program
- Counsels residents concerning board requirements, adjusting schedules to meet requirements
- Constructs action plans and puts in place processes for managing performance expectations in the unit based on goals and deadlines
- Ensures the maintenance of all relevant program accreditations

EDUCATION
Required- Bachelor's degree (preferably in medical education or related field)

Required- 3 years in a related field

Working Conditions / DemandsThis role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment.
