Clinical Documentation Improvement - Revenue Cycle

Position Summary

The Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) Education Specialist reports to the CDI Director and is responsible for ensuring providers document and code encounters and procedures accurately across inpatient, outpatient, and clinic settings to meet billing requirements. The role involves creating provider education to improve documentation and coding accuracy, collaborating with Coding, Charge Capture, and Billing Compliance teams to identify educational needs.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Certification as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CCS-P; CDI Certification required within one year of employment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, presentation software, and internet communication tools
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and data interpretation skills
  • Excellent time management and ability to work independently under pressure
Experience and Education
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent; bachelor’s preferred
  • Minimum three years of coding, billing compliance, or CDI education experience; two years as a pro-fee coder/auditor preferred
