What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Conduct comprehensive coding and documentation audits to identify revenue opportunities and ensure compliance
- Perform prospective and retrospective chart reviews, comparing medical documentation with coding guidelines
- Identify coding discrepancies and provide recommendations for improvement
- Communicate audit findings to providers and collaborate on corrective actions
- Provide ongoing education to clinical staff on coding practices and compliance policies
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associate degree in a related field
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Coding Specialist – Physician based (CCS-P), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification
- Five (5) years of experience auditing billing/coding and three (3) years in inpatient or outpatient billing/coding
- Must be willing to travel as needed and possess a valid driver's license with proof of auto insurance
