Job summary

Akua Behavioral Health is seeking a Clinical Director in California to lead clinical operations across residential and outpatient programs. This full-time, exempt role includes an on-call rotation and is based in San Diego.

The position requires a Master’s degree and at least 3+ years of mental health experience with 1+ year in management, plus active licensure (LMFT/LPCC/LCSW). You will supervise staff and drive program quality and outcomes.

Qualifications

• License required: LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW (or equivalent).
• Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, healthcare administration).
• Minimum 3+ years mental health experience and 1+ year in management.

Responsibilities

• Train clinical staff on client interventions, documentation, and utilization reviews.
• Ensure compliance with state licensing and accreditation standards at all times.
• Drive outcomes by increasing length of stay, continuation of care, and census.
• Develop operational processes and training materials for clinical programs.
• Provide clinical leadership and supervise associate therapists as needed.
• Participate in on-call rotation and provide guidance after hours.
• Step in for senior roles as needed and manage caseload when required.
