Clinical Director (ABA Services)

Position Summary

The Clinical Director is responsible for overseeing the delivery of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services within an assigned region, ensuring high-quality clinical care for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. This role provides leadership, mentorship, and operational oversight to clinical and administrative staff while supporting regional growth, maintaining compliance, and promoting best practices in service delivery.

The Clinical Director should be able to competently perform the essential functions of various clinical roles (including behavior technician, senior behavior technician, case manager, and behavior analyst) as well as certain administrative responsibilities, as needed, to ensure continuity of services.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership

• Provide direct BCBA supervision for clients requiring ongoing clinical oversight, as needed.
• Deliver field-based and office-based supervision to behavior analysts and trainees pursuing certification requirements.
• Mentor and train behavior analysts, case managers, and other clinical staff.
• Meet regularly with clinical supervisors to review caseloads, treatment progress, documentation, and performance.
• Review, edit, and complete initial assessments, treatment plans, and progress reports.
• Monitor clinical quality and ensure services are delivered in accordance with ethical, professional, and funding source requirements.
• Address client, caregiver, and staff concerns using sound clinical judgment and organizational policies.

Regional Operations

• Oversee client intake and onboarding processes within the assigned region.
• Monitor client services to ensure continuity of care and high-quality outcomes.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of clinical staff, including behavior technicians and supervisors.
• Coordinate and oversee clinical training initiatives for regional staff.
• Evaluate staff performance through regular observations and annual performance reviews.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and employee engagement activities.
• Assist with regional planning to support organizational growth and service expansion.

Community and Professional Engagement

• Build and maintain positive relationships with funding agencies, school districts, healthcare providers, and community partners.
• Represent the organization at professional conferences, workshops, and community events.
• Present educational information to stakeholders regarding ABA services and best practices.
• Participate in research, program development, or curriculum enhancement initiatives, as opportunities arise.

Qualifications

Required

• Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
• Minimum of three years of experience as a BCBA.
• Master's or doctoral degree in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or a closely related field.
• Experience designing and supervising ABA treatment programs for children with autism and other developmental disabilities.
• Experience training and supervising behavior technicians, caregivers, and clinical staff.
• Knowledge of evidence-based ABA teaching methodologies, including Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Natural Environment Teaching (NET), and Verbal Behavior interventions.
• Experience conducting behavioral assessments, including functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and standardized assessment tools.

Preferred

• One to two years of experience supervising behavior analysts or other licensed clinical professionals.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing regional clinical operations.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor clinicians, support professional development, and maintain high standards of clinical quality.
