Job description

Lutheran Services Florida (LSF) envisions a world where children are safe, families are strong, and communities are vibrant.

LSF is seeking a talented Clinical Director who wants to make an impact in the lives of others.

Purpose and Impact:

The Clinical Director will support the mission of LSF by directing and evaluating all assigned clinical programs and staff. Assumes primary responsibility for all regional, clinical program implementation and maintenance of quality services in all clinical programs. Responsible for the management of program budgets and contracts, grant applications, and community relations. This is a non-direct care position.

Essential Functions:
  • Supervises the recruitment, training and hiring of staff. Ensures that staff in the program adhere to LSF personnel policies and procedures.
  • Supervises all assigned programs, provides supervision to direct reports, and assures professional development of assigned staff for quality service delivery.
  • Assures assigned programs meet or exceed all licensing, quality assurance and fiscal requirements promulgated by the Departments of Health, Children & Families, Department of Juvenile Justice, Community Based Care agency, and the Florida Network.
  • Serves as programmatic liaison to Department of Children & Families, Department of Juvenile Justice, Community Based Care agency, schools, social service agencies and juvenile courts to promote positive, cooperative relationships.
  • Oversees program development and growth.
  • Oversees preparation and monitoring of assigned program budgets.
  • Responsible for ensuring effective case staffing and supervision of high-risk cases.
  • Networks through various community and statewide meetings with various community organizations and funders.
  • Responds to both staff and clients ameliorate any problems.
  • Assures that the statistical data and reports for assigned programs is collected, processed and submitted to appropriate agencies in a timely manner.
  • Manages salaries and performance in compliance with the agency’s compensation plan.
  • Manages program operation in accordance with assigned budgets.
  • Assists both directly and indirectly with grant writing throughout the region.
  • Assists the regional director with responsibilities both inside and outside the agency, as needed.
  • Serves as Privacy Officer for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA)
Other Functions:

All other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working at a computer, participating in meetings, and reviewing clinical documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through virtual platforms with staff, clients, community partners, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including a computer, keyboard, telephone, copier, and printer.
  • Ability to frequently use hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read, analyze, and prepare electronic and written reports, records, and correspondence.
  • Ability to move throughout office, clinic, residential, and community settings to supervise staff, conduct observations, and attend meetings.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 15 pounds (e.g., files, laptop, training materials, or office supplies).
  • Ability to travel local and occasionally statewide to program sites, meetings, trainings, or community events, as required. Valid driver’s license and sufficient insurance is required.
  • Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment with frequent use of computers and other standard office equipment.
  • Regular interaction with youth, families, staff, community stakeholders and external partners in office, residential, clinic, residential, school and community-based settings.
  • May be exposed to emotionally charged, stressful, or crisis situations involving children, adolescents, and families experiencing behavioral health, trauma, or family-related challenges.
  • Occasional exposure to moderate noise levels and varied environmental conditions while visiting program sites or community locations.
  • Position may require a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends to meet operational and program needs.

Education:

Master’s degree in clinical services is required. Must be professionally licensed.

Experience:

Must have a minimum of 5 years experience, including 3 years administrative experience in programs serving troubled youth and families.

Skills:

Must possess demonstrated leadership and administrative abilities; be able to develop and monitor contracts; be able to work effectively with others; be a good team player; present self well in public; be an effective communicator; and function well with a minimum of supervision.

Other:

Must demonstrate sensitivity to our service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and needs.

  • Cost effective preparation and management of assigned program budgets.
  • Adherence to all license and quality assurance standards.
  • Accurate and timely submission of required statistical reports.

  • Adherence to all agency policies and procedures.
