Description

The Clinical Director will supervise the delivery of counseling services at Grace Counseling and other sites, be community based, travel to Kerrville, Uvalde and surrounding areas, recruit, hire, and train staff, supervise therapists and interns, monitor program progress, produce required outcome reports, act as a therapist, assist with budget and grant writing, and represent the department at community meetings.

Position Responsibilities

• Recruit, interview, hire, and train new employees under supervision; recommend performance improvements and terminations.
• Disseminate program information to other community programs, agencies and entities by phone, mail, email, and via community meetings and events.
• Ensure the counseling program adheres to procedures and protocols of designated funding entities (e.g., Texas Pregnancy Care Network, VOCA).
• Train new hires, interns, and all assigned staff on agency procedures, protocols, and documentation requirements.
• Develop, assess, and make recommendations based on weekly productivity reports for all therapists and interns.
• Monitor client files for required forms, accuracy, appropriate documentation, and service reviews for all clinicians on the team.
• Attend grant-related and collaborative meetings for the counseling program.
• Assist with grant proposals and present information to potential funding sources as required.
• Provide specified monthly/quarterly reports for the counseling program to funding sources and/or the agency.
• Monitor job performance of all staff based on services provided, program procedures, and program/grant goals.
• Provide staff with monthly supportive supervision and formal annual reviews.
• Provide counseling services to individual clients (adults, teens, and children), couples, and families – case carrier Lead; a minimum of 10% of the day is focused on clients.
• Provide fill-in duties when the other Clinical Director is on leave.
• Oversee and ensure the on-call schedule is updated and that therapists provide appropriate services, providing backup for shelter staff if an on-call therapist does not respond.
• Complete and maintain up-to-date intake forms, mental health assessments, service plans, and session notes.
• Provide all personal and professional information necessary for insurance credentialing.
• Complete state requirements to maintain licensure in good standing.
• Attend professional workshops, conferences, and seminars to increase and update knowledge in counseling.
• Facilitate and/or assign workshops and groups arranged by the counseling department.
• Participate in promotional activities and community outreach events.
• Conduct weekly staff supervision (group or individual), team meetings, and case conferences.
• Supervise and assign interns to job duties.
• Make appropriate referrals for clients when necessary.
• Adhere to all Catholic Charities, Archdiocese of San Antonio, Inc. rules and regulations.
• Complete all professional required training in a timely manner and ensure all staff complete required training.
• Be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
• Adhere to safety training and protocols daily, taking precautions to ensure the safety and well‑being of self and others.
• Protect confidentiality of any information or material obtained in service (client names and information, services rendered, donor names and gifts, internal and external investigations, financial information).
• Adhere to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy.
• Take a trauma‑informed and solution‑oriented approach in all interactions and be a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the organization’s mission and vision.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education
  • Master’s Degree from a school accredited in a licensure discipline.
• Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years post‑graduate experience in individual, family, and/or group therapy.
  • Preferred experience with trauma‑oriented clients, foster care, and pre‑ and post‑partum counseling.
  • Experience supervising a clinical team is preferred.
• License and Credentials
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Valid vehicle insurance.
  • Licensed in one or more of the following:
    • Professional Counselor (LPC)
    • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
    • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Must have a supervisory designation or be eligible to apply within the first year of employment.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills

• Understand both the clinical and business aspects of managing a clinical team.
• Ability to engage in clinical services in both English and Spanish is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years post‑graduate experience in counseling adults, teens, children, couples, and/or families.
• Extensive working knowledge of trauma‑informed care and the process of change.
• Proficiency with computer software: Electronic Health Record, email, internet, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Solid grasp of public speaking.
• Excellent time management and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Detail‑oriented, organized, self‑motivated, able to work independently and on a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities.

Travel Requirements

Travel requires 85% local and 15% overnight. The Clinical Director will travel to all counseling locations (Grace Counseling, Seton Home, St PJ’s, Guadalupe Home, Guadalupe Community Center, St Stephen’s Food Pantry, Mother Teresa Center, Kerrville Office, Uvalde, and others as assigned) and to rural parishes as needed.
