Job summary

Integrated Care for Greater Health, Inc. is seeking a Director of Clinical Services to oversee behavioral health and SUD services organization-wide.

The role provides clinical leadership as Supervising Clinician, ensuring care aligns with NC regulations, payer requirements, and evidence-based practices across outpatient, IOP/SAIOP, MAT, inpatient, and recovery settings. The candidate will drive clinical governance, supervision structures, documentation integrity, and consistency in care delivery

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
  • Active, unrestricted NC license eligibility to provide clinical supervision (LCMHCS, LCSW, LMFT, LCADC, etc.).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Behavioral Health and Substance Use Disorder treatment.
  • Minimum 2–3 years in clinical leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical oversight for BH & SUD services across all programs.
  • Serve as Supervising Licensed Clinician and ensure licensure compliance.
  • Lead clinical decision-making and risk management for high-risk cases.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and medical necessity alignment.
  • Lead clinical staff development and onboarding.
  • Ensure uniform clinical practices across programs (outpatient, IOP, MAT, inpatient, recovery housing).
  • Collaborate with QA to meet regulatory standards.

Description

The Director of Clinical Services is responsible for the clinical integrity and oversight of all Behavioral Health and Substance Use Disorder services across the organization. This includes outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP/SAIOP), medication-assisted treatment (MAT/MOUD), inpatient/crisis services, and recovery support environments.


This role serves as the organization’s Supervising Clinician, ensuring all clinical services are delivered in accordance with North Carolina regulations, payer requirements, and evidence-based practices, while maintaining consistent standards across all programs and locations.

Core Responsibilities (Outcome-Based) 1. Clinical Oversight – Behavioral Health & SUD
  • Ensures all services meet standards for mental health and substance use disorder treatment, including co-occurring care
  • Maintains alignment with ASAM criteria, level of care determinations, and medical necessity
  • Oversees implementation of evidence-based practices across all programs
2. Supervising Clinician Authority
  • Serves as the designated Supervising Licensed Clinician for the organization
  • Provides clinical supervision in accordance with North Carolina licensure board requirements
  • Ensures appropriate supervision structures are in place for provisionally licensed staff
  • Maintains compliance with all supervision documentation and oversight expectations
3. Clinical Decision-Making & Risk Oversight
  • Serves as the final authority on clinical appropriateness of care and treatment planning
  • Provides direction on high-risk or complex cases (SUD, co-occurring, crisis)
  • Ensures appropriate clinical response to relapse, withdrawal, and behavioral health crises
4. Documentation & Chart Integrity
  • Establishes and enforces standards for timely, accurate, and audit-defensible documentation
  • Ensures compliance with CARF, Medicaid, and LME-MCO requirements
  • Oversees correction of documentation deficiencies and supports clinical staff improvement
5. Clinical Staff Leadership & Development
  • Oversees clinical staff performance, competency, and adherence to treatment models
  • Ensures proper onboarding, supervision, and ongoing clinical development
  • Supports consistency in service delivery across all programs and locations
6. Program Clinical Consistency
  • Ensures uniform clinical practices across:
  • Outpatient (OPT)
  • IOP / SAIOP
  • MAT / MOUD programs
  • Inpatient / Crisis (FBC)
  • Recovery housing support services
  • Eliminates variation that creates risk or inconsistency in care delivery
7. Clinical Compliance & Audit Readiness
  • Partners with QA & Compliance to ensure continuous audit readiness
  • Addresses trends, deficiencies, and corrective action plans related to clinical services
  • Ensures alignment with state, federal, and accreditation standards
Scope Clarification (Critical) This Role OWNS:
  • Clinical quality and standards (BH + SUD)
  • Clinical supervision and licensure compliance
  • Clinical decision-making authority
  • Documentation integrity and medical necessity alignment
This Role DOES NOT OWN:
  • Daily operations, staffing logistics, or scheduling
  • Billing execution or revenue cycle processes
  • Administrative or non-clinical program management
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications (REQUIRED)
  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
  • Active, unrestricted North Carolina license eligible to provide clinical supervision, such as:
  • LCMHCS or
  • LCSW (with supervision credentials per board) or
  • LMFT (with supervision credentials) or
  • LCASS or
  • LCADC
  • Meets all requirements to serve as a Supervising Clinician under NC regulations
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Behavioral Health and Substance Use Disorder treatment
  • Minimum of 2–3 years in clinical leadership
