Job summary

Job description

Location: Lake Charles, 1800 Ryan St, Lake Charles, LA 70601, USA

The Clinical Director provides leadership, direction, and clinical supervision to a team of program and support staff, including supervisors. The incumbent manages the day-to-day operations of the assigned program, with overall responsibility for program fidelity to the wraparound model as well as quality assurance and compliance with contract requirements and Choices’ standards. The Clinical Director tracks, monitors, and adjusts program caseload sizes to ensure they meet contractual requirements. The Clinical Director partners with other departments within Choices—Finance, Provider Relations, Information Systems and Technology, Applied Research and Evaluation, and Staff Training and Development—to develop effective processes for operational effectiveness. Additionally, the incumbent provides individual and group supervision for Wraparound Supervisors, demonstrates and promotes wraparound skill development, provides consultation and education to staff, serves as a liaison with funders and partners, and maintains a strong community presence. The Clinical Director demonstrates self‑awareness and motivation for growth and leadership development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages caseloads for the assigned team, ensuring they are clinically appropriate and meet contract requirements, balancing family needs with census expectations.
  • Establishes and oversees the referral, enrollment, and discharge processes for the assigned program.
  • Ensures team members maintain fidelity to the wraparound model through training, supervision protocols, and practice monitoring.
  • Directs hiring, training, and retention of staff at the assigned site.
  • Works closely with other Clinical Directors, Executive Directors, and Choices leadership to establish and implement strategic planning and quality improvement processes.
  • Uses data to inform decision-making for quality assurance, program improvement, and staffing needs.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility to ensure program financial sustainability.
  • Ensures compliance with all Council on Accreditation requirements.
  • Completes other duties as assigned to advance the mission of Choices.
Supervision
  • In collaboration with the site’s Executive Director, leads the program’s Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) efforts.
  • Collaborates with leadership across Choices to maintain current, effective, and timely curriculum for staff and supervisor training.
  • Models effective coaching and mentoring skills and develops these skills in supervisors.
  • Trains supervisors on how to gather and use data to lead Wraparound Facilitator teams.
  • Actively participates in internal and external training opportunities.
  • Understands and can describe key components of all Choices’ programs and lines of service.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of master’s degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or a related human services field.
  • Current licensure by the state(s) where work is assigned as Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Mental Health Counselor, or a similar field preferred. Candidates who are license‑eligible and actively working toward a license are considered.
  • Minimum of five years of clinical and/or supervisory experience in community-based behavioral health and human services working with children and families.
  • Significant supervisory experience in developing leadership, building consensus, resolving conflict, and building teams.
  • Demonstrated competence in providing services for culturally diverse populations.
  • Expertise in strength‑based, trauma‑informed programming, crisis intervention, family systems theory, and case management.
  • Demonstrated skill in fiscal management and development preferred.
  • Strong communication and writing skills; bilingual skills (especially Spanish) a plus.
  • To be CANS certified within 45 days of hire and at all times thereafter.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license in the state of residence and auto insurance.

Salary Range: $74-79,000
