Children's Hospital Colorado is seeking a Clinical Dietitian Senior to support the Breathing Institute and work primarily with the Cystic Fibrosis population. The role is based on-site at the Anschutz Medical Campus and requires a strong background in pediatric clinical care and quality improvement leadership.

Job Overview

Come be a part of our Clinical Nutrition Team! We are an incredible group of clinicians dedicated to providing patient & family-centered evidence-based medical nutrition therapy. Our clinical RDs are highly integrated within the multidisciplinary team on the inpatient units and outpatient clinics at Children’s Hospital Colorado. The Clinical Dietitian Senior is a lead team member who provides comprehensive, safe, and ethical medical nutrition therapy to patients, families, and other clients in inpatient or outpatient settings. This role leads quality improvement activities and advances the practice of dietetics through professional leadership activities.

This position will support the Breathing Institute, primarily working with our Cystic Fibrosis population inpatient/outpatient as well as supporting other patient populations in the Breathing Institute as needed. Shift is Monday through Friday, 8:00AM-4:30 PM on-site at Anschutz Medical Campus, as well as on-site support at North (Broomfield) and South (Highlands Ranch) campuses for CF clinics. Highly preferred Qualifications include experience in pediatric clinical care, a CSP or CNSC, and experience working with an interdisciplinary team.

Essential Functions
  1. Assesses, plans, and delivers accurate medical nutrition therapy using established standards and evidence.
  2. Incorporates principles of culture-competence and family-centered care.
  3. Trains and observes RDs, interns, and students in their clinical practice and provides feedback to enhance understanding and compliance.
  4. Pursues ongoing professional growth and skill development.
  5. Actively contributes to rounds, care conferences, and care coordination.
  6. Collaborates and promotes teamwork to achieve positive patient and client outcomes across the organization and/or within the department.
  7. Proactively connects with Clinical Nutrition team members and other disciplines in the organization to identify Clinical Nutrition-related issues, potential solutions, and opportunities for quality and process improvement.
  8. Ensures compliance with established regulatory standards and healthcare regulatory requirements by identifying and following policies and procedures for the nutritional care provided.
  9. Accurately documents patient care and tracks time/activities for use with benchmarking, billing, and/or productivity in accordance with department standards.
  10. Assists in leading advocacy efforts, policy and procedure reviews, and quality improvement or research initiatives; collaborates with committees, task forces, workgroups, and CN department peers to gather and apply data that enhances CN services and outcomes; facilitates professional engagement by mentoring RDs and supporting their involvement in associations, research, and publications.
  11. Serves as a role model for standards of behavior, NFPE process, advanced interviewing, education, and/or counseling strategies and mentors team members and support their professional growth, skill development, responsibility, accountability, quality improvement and research process.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education - Bachelor’s Degree (prior to 2024 graduates). Master’s Degree required for 2024 (and beyond) graduates.
  • Experience - Four (4) years clinical nutrition.
  • Equivalency - N/A.
  • Certification - N/A.
  • Licensure - Registered Dietitians (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDN) adhering to the Commission of Dietetic Registration guidelines.
Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant’s relevant experience. Hourly Range: $33.12 to $49.68.

This position is eligible for relocation assistance and a sign-on bonus incentive for qualified candidates.
