Job summary

Northwell Health in Syosset, NY, is seeking a Registered Dietitian to lead nutritional care for patients. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nutrition care plans and assist in menu modifications.

Responsibilities include counseling patients and families, conducting nutritional assessments, and collaborating with physicians and the clinical team to ensure therapy diets are appropriate.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in dietetics or related field.
• Current Registered Dietitian Certification with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• Certified Dietitian Nutritionist in New York State (CDN) as needed.
• Advanced/specialized certifications, as needed.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and train team members.
• Perform varied clinical tasks of minimal complexity.
• Interview patient/family for nutritional history and preferences, document in medical record.
• Develop and implement patient-specific nutrition care plans; consult with medical staff.
• Recommend therapeutic diet modifications and/or supplements; verify diet orders.
• Provide nutritional guidance, education and counseling to patients and families.
• Contribute to menu changes and standard recipes; supervise food service staff.
• Support clinical function and daily operations within the team.
• Prepare and conduct individual and group education; promote Northwell wellness initiatives.
• Develop and communicate nutrition information within the program and community.
• Provide in-services to culinary and interdisciplinary teams on therapeutic diets.
• Participate in Quality Assurance/PI tasks; collect data as directed.
• Escalate operational or technical issues to senior staff; modify tools or processes.
• Perform related duties as required.
