Under the direct supervision of the Manager, the Clinical Dietitian II is primarily responsible for ensuring optimal medical nutrition therapy through needs assessment, planning, and carrying out intervention, consulting with other disciplines, and educating patient and/or caregiver on nutritional needs. Serves as educational resource to food and nutrition employees, other medical staff, the community and dietetic interns. Serves as subject matter expert in an advanced clinical nutrition specialty. Utilizes advanced clinical nutrition skills to precept dietetic interns, assist the Clinical Nutrition Specialist in training new Dietitians, work on special clinical nutrition projects including quality assurance and performance improvements and involvement in specialty committees. May be required to float to other Palomar Health facilities and travel off-site for community nutrition classes and nutrition education classes for other disciplines within Palomar Health.
Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.
Minimum Education: | Bachelor's Degree in related field |
Preferred Education: | Master's Degree and/or other clinical certification |
Minimum Experience: | 2 years of experience and Dietetic Internship or equivalent |
Preferred Experience: | 3-5 years as clinical dietitian in long-term and/or acute care |
Required Certification: | Registered Dietitian & Nutritionist (RDN) Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics and Advanced certification as CDCES, CNSC, CSR, CSP, CSG, CSO, NWCC OR FAND N95 RPP Mask within 90 days of hire Aerosol Transmissible Diseases within 90 days of hire |
