Job Details

The University of Iowa Health Care department of Food & Nutrition is seeking multiple openings for Clinical Dietitian I to use the Nutrition Care Process to assess, evaluate, and provide Medical Nutrition Therapy and nutrition counseling for patients in assigned program areas.

  1. Provide quality patient care, including nutrition screening, evaluation, assessment, treatment, and documentation of patient care plans appropriate for each patient.
  2. Educate and evaluate students, providing necessary support and assistance to ensure work is completed.
  3. Assess nutrition status and counsel patients on appropriate diets.
  4. Participate as part of the medical team concerning patients' food habits and needs, and participate in health team rounds.
  5. Assist in the implementation of studies and short-term projects.
  6. Perform special projects as assigned.
  7. Participate actively in departmental and hospital committees.
  8. Review and analyze production, standards maintenance, costs, and personnel utilization records to evaluate progress and control costs.
  9. Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
  10. Exercise functional supervision over Diet Clerks and assist other dietitians as needed.

  • Pay Grade: 5 (Pay Plan Details)
  • Salary: Starting at $57,000, commensurate with experience
  • Locations: Multiple areas including IRL, Behavioral Health, Pediatric, Adult GI Transplant, among others. Details discussed during interview.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
  • A Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Certifications
  • Registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Licensure by the State of Iowa
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience with pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient care across various medical conditions
  • Experience in enteral and parenteral nutrition recommendations and formulas
