Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a Dietitian (Clinical) to provide expert medical nutrition care within the Nutrition and Food Services section. The role emphasizes autonomous clinical practice, evidence-based nutrition, and patient-centered goals for Veterans with complex needs.

You will interpret research, apply NCP guidelines, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support whole health approaches and improve patient outcomes in an on-site setting at a VA facility.

Qualifications

• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD) registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
• For non-credentialed Dietitians: US GS-07/09 temporary appointment with eligibility to take the CDR exam if requirements are met.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nutrition assessments for Veterans using the Nutrition Care Process (NCP).
• Develop patient-centered goals and care plans.
• Utilize virtual care technology to improve access to care.
• Maintain accurate daily clinical records and patient encounters in approved systems.
• Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) and other accrediting standards; collaborate with Food Operations to enhance dining experiences and patient satisfaction.
