Job summary

HCA Healthcare Colleton Hospital seeks a Clinical Dietitian to collaborate with the care team in delivering Medical Nutrition Therapy across age groups. You will perform nutrition screenings, design individualized care plans, and monitor outcomes to improve patient health.

The role includes education for patients and families, plus mentoring interns. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Nutrition or Dietetics, completed an ACEND-accredited internship, and has RD licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an ACEND-accredited internship practice program is required.
• Preferred: one to two years of hospital clinical nutrition experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy to patients of all ages.
• Perform nutrition screenings and assessments per policy.
• Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans.
• Monitor and evaluate outcomes of medical nutrition therapy.
• Provide nutrition education to patients, families, and caregivers.
• Mentor dietetic interns and new staff as needed.
• Engage in department and hospital committees to advance nutrition care.

Job Summary and Qualifications

To collaborate as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide patients of all age groups and acuity levels with high quality Medical Nutrition Therapy following the Nutrition Care Process. Major Responsibilities:

1. Quality
2. Performs timely nutrition screenings and assessments in accordance with the Corporate Screening and Assessment Policy
3. Perform nutrition focused physical exams on patients who are at nutritional risk. Identify patients at nutritional risk based on established criteria
4. Evaluate age specific, developmental and disease specific nutritional needs of patients. Develop and implement individualized nutritional plan of care.
5. Evaluate and monitor the effectiveness and outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions.
6. Identify patient nutrition education needs and provide nutrition counseling to patients, family, and/or caregivers.
7. Participate in the competency assessment process and achieve a passing score of 80% or higher on RD chart audits
8. Adheres to nutrition care guidelines, the nutrition care manual, department/facility guidelines and/or protocols to provide evidence based nutrition care.
9. Integrates the Academy Code of Ethics in all areas of practice.

Education & Experience:

• Required: Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or equivalent
• Required: Completion of an ACEND-accredited internship practice program
• Preferred: One to two years of hospital clinical nutrition experience

Licensure, Certifications, Training: Credential:

• Required: Registered Dietitian (RD)
• Preferred: Licensed Dietitian (LD)
