Job summary

North Central Baptist Hospitals is seeking a PRN Clinical Dietitian to deliver specialized nutrition care, including assessments, education, and nutrient analysis for patients and families. You will screen patients and participate in policy development to enhance nutrition services.

This role requires a Bachelor’s in Dietetics with Texas licensure, 3–5 years’ experience, and the ability to work in a collaborative healthcare setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in dietetics or related field from ACEND-accredited program.
  • Masters or Doctorate in nutrition/dietetics or related healthcare field preferred.
  • 3–5 years’ experience post credentialing required; Master/Doctorate may substitute for experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess nutritional status from EHR, patient, family, and care team.
  • Identify teaching needs and provide education materials.
  • Perform nutrient intake analysis and nutrition screening.
  • Develop policies and procedures for nutrition care and tray services.
  • Assign nutrition tasks to dietetic technicians.
  • Act as a preceptor for dietetic interns and students.
  • Relieve diet office staff as needed.

Job Summary

PRN Days


The Clinical Dietitian performs the functions of a specialized clinical nutrition service, such as nutrition assessment, nutrition education, nutrient intake analysis and patient screening to provide quality nutrition care to patients and families. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.


Responsibilities


  • Assesses nutritional status of the patient based on information gathered from the medical record, patient, family, and other health care team members.

  • Identifies and provides for the teaching needs of patients and families utilizing appropriate educational material and arranging for the most suitable environment possible.

  • Performs nutrient intake analysis.

  • Performs nutrition screening and assesses patients identified as having high nutrition risks.

  • Participates in developing policies and procedures related to providing nutrition care and patient tray services.

  • Assigns appropriate nutrition care tasks to the dietetic technicians.

  • Acts as a preceptor for dietetic interns and dietetic technician students when required.

  • Relieves employees in the diet office as assigned.


Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in dietetics or related field of study from an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited program.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Masters or Doctorate Degree in nutrition/dietetics or related healthcare field.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 3-5 year's experience post credentialing (may substitute a Master’s or Doctorate degree for the 3-5 year's experience).
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:



  • Possession of current licensure by the Texas State Board of Examiners for Dietitians (or within 90 days from registration if newly licensed).

  • Current registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, and Advanced Certification (CNSC, CDE, CSP, CSG, CSSD, or CSR).
