Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care is seeking a Clinical Dietitian to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy to patients according to the Nutrition Care Process, under the direction of the Director or Designee. The role requires 24 hours/day, 7 days/week coverage with some overtime and callback.

You will work with hospital staff and the community, participate in interdisciplinary teams, educate patients and staff, and support performance improvement initiatives while upholding hospital standards of service.

Qualifications

• Completion of program meeting requirements leading to registration by The Commission on Registration of The American Dietetic Association.
• Licensure as an LDN by State of MS must be obtained prior to employment.
• Knowledge of BMH protocols and orientation procedures.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and assesses pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients and initiates the Nutrition Care Process.
• Develops and selects teaching materials to educate patients, families, hospital staff and community.
• Participates in interdisciplinary teams and communicates nutritional needs for quality care.
• Contributes to Performance Improvement and budgetary performance indicators.
• Exhibits professional appearance and conduct per hospital standards.
• Completes assigned goals.

The incumbent is under the general direction of the Director, Assistant Director or Designee and is responsible for clinical services at BMH 24 hours/day, 7 days/week. • Develops and selects appropriate teaching materials and methods and assesses the learner to educate pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients/clients and/or S/O, hospital staff, and general public with timely completion and assurance of understanding.
• Participates in interdisciplinary teams and committees and otherwise communicates patient's nutritional needs and issues to positively affect quality patient care outcomes.
• Participates in the development and process of Performance Improvement and quality initiative indicators to improve nutrition care, patient and cafeteria food service, and budgetary performance.
• Exhibits friendly and professional appearance and conduct in associating with fellow healthcare providers, workers, patients, and visitors in adherence to hospital service standards.
• Completes assigned goals.
