Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking a Clinical Dietitian (RD) to join Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL. This per diem (PRN) role fulfills an 8-hour day shift and supports patient nutrition care across units.

The RD will assess nutritional status, design individualized meal plans, educate patients and families, monitor progress, and collaborate with physicians, nurses and other staff to ensure meals meet safety standards and medical needs.

Qualifications

• Registered Dietitian (RD) license required.
• Minimum 1–2 years’ clinical nutrition experience.
• Strong knowledge of medical nutrition therapy (MNT).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients' dietary needs based on medical conditions, labs and history.
• Develop individualized meal plans to support recovery or manage conditions.
• Track progress, adjust meal plans, and ensure nutrition goals are met.
• Collaborate with doctors, nurses and healthcare teams on patient care.
• Educate patients and families on proper nutrition and post-discharge planning.
• Ensure meals align with prescribed diets and safety standards.

Location:Riverview Regional Medical Center – Gadsden, AL

We are seeking aClinical Dietitian,alsoreferred to as aRegistered Dietitian.TheRegistered Dietitian(RD)in our hospital designs and implements nutrition care plans for patients, tailoring diets to medical needs.Clinical Dietitian’sassess nutritional status,monitorprogress, educate patients and families, collaborate with healthcare teams, and ensure dietary staff prepares meals that meet safety and health standards.TheRegistered Dietitian’sgoal is to improve patient outcomes through effective nutrition management.This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PRNas needed.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• Nutritionalassessment: evaluate patients' dietary needs based on medical conditions, lab results, and health history


• Developmealplans: create individualized nutrition plans to support recovery, manage chronic diseases, or address specific conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or malnutrition


• Track patients’ progress, adjust meal plans as needed, and ensure nutritional goals are met


• Work closely with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to integrate nutrition into patient care plans


• Educatepatients and their families about proper nutritioneducation, special diets, or post-discharge meal planning


• Ensure meals prepared by the dietary staff align with prescribed diets and safety standards

Qualifications

• Registered Dietitian (RD) license


• Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting providing patient nutritional care

Additional Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Strong understanding of medical nutrition therapy (MNT)


• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills


• Ability to educate and motivate patients and families on healthy eating habits


• Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
