In the Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCCU), you will work with patients with Cardiac and Vascular disease, some requiring an intermediate level of care. We care for patients with congestive heart failure, acute myocardial infarcts (STEMI, NSTEMI), cardiac dysrhythmia, cardiomyopathy, pulmonary edema, amputations, etc. Patients require many interventions on this unit including echocardiogram, nuclear studies, pacemakers, percutaneous coronary intervention, vascular surgery, cardioversion, and cath lab procedures. You will become an expert at interpreting cardiac rhythms and skilled in drip titration, and post-cath interventions such as TR Bands and Femoral Sheath pulls. Our nurses are trained in ACLS, NIHSS, and respond to code blue events throughout the hospital.
The role also involves coordinating the development and implementation of education and training programs to enhance, promote, and maintain high standards of staff professional growth in providing quality patient care. You will serve as a role model of excellence in nursing knowledge and clinical practice, administer staff development programs through needs assessment, and implement education and training programs for clinical staff. You will function in a leadership role as a clinical expert, develop and implement training, and maintain established standards of care through quality improvement activities. Responsibilities include providing staff instruction on data collection, assisting with clinical guideline development, and serving as a resource to departmental and hospital staff.
