Job description

The Dentist supervises, consults, refers, and instructs Dental Hygiene Students.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and be present during all clinic sessions.
  • Handle medical emergencies during clinic hours.
  • Prescribe medication as needed.
  • Administer local anesthesia when appropriate.
  • Answer questions from students and patients.
  • Serve as authority to dental hygiene faculty/staff on dental matters.
  • Identify treatments for medically compromised patients.
  • Identify pathologies and make referrals—medical and/or dental.
  • Refer patients for follow-up treatment.
  • Prescribe pit and fissure sealants as needed.
  • Identify and evaluate lesions, anomalies, or deviations from normal.
  • Review radiographs and diagnose accordingly.
  • Review patient health histories and refer to physicians as necessary.
  • Evaluate students during patient care.
  • Provide consulting services and review treatment plans with patients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Experience

  • Minimum of five years experience as a dentist.
  • Appropriate state license.
  • Prior experience in education preferred.

Hourly rate ranges from $75 to $77 based on experience and education.
