Role Summary:

Effective execution of good data governance principles minimizes risk and ensures data is available and fit for purpose. As part of The Cigna Group’s Enterprise Clinical & Health Organization (ECHO), the Clinical Data Governance Lead oversees the integrity, quality, and governance of critical data related to ECHO operations, programs, and strategies. Candidates should have a strong background in healthcare payer clinical operations and related data standards, with a focus on business enablement and quality improvement.

Responsibilities:

1. Implement data ownership and stewardship practices, serving as the primary contact for data-related decisions to ensure proper data use, access, standards, quality, controls, and metadata management.
2. Lead Data Governance initiatives and collaborate with Clinical business and IT stakeholders to:

• Set priorities based on operational needs and regulatory demands
• Work with partners to implement governance requirements
• Enhance data governance best practices

Implement Operational Data Governance, controls, and risk management as the 1st Line of Defense.

Coordinate with Enterprise Data Governance and Data Stewards to align standards and support oversight activities, including audits.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher
• 7+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Data Quality, or Process Improvement, especially in healthcare payer data products and processes
• Deep knowledge of clinical data standards and operations, including terminology, health services, care management, health profiles, health measurement, and operational systems
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Creative thinking and adaptability
• Proficiency in data analysis and governance tools (e.g., SQL, SAS, Python, Tableau, Collibra, etc.)
• Project management and Six Sigma skills are a plus
• Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira)
