Job summary

The Annette Caldwell Simmons School of Education and Human Development at Southern Methodist University seeks a full-time Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling. Responsibilities include teaching counseling courses, academic advising, curriculum oversight, and clinical supervision.

The position is renewable for three years beginning August 2027, with service to the School and University.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in counseling or counselor education from a CACREP-accredited program.
• Teaching experience in counseling-related courses, including clinical courses and core curriculum.
• Clinical experience in the field and clinical supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated identity as a counselor educator and clinician with sustained professional involvement.

Responsibilities

• Teach counseling courses and apply generalist teaching across the curriculum with CACREP standards.
• Provide academic advising (individual and group).
• Develop and/or oversee curriculum.
• Provide clinical supervision of students in clinical courses.
• Support departmental program projects and events.
• Provide service to the School and University.
