Job summary

Volunteers of America-Texas in Houston is seeking a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor to support client services and ensure program compliance. The role involves counseling individuals, developing treatment plans, and coordinating groups.

You will train staff, oversee progress, and assist with administrative duties while maintaining a safe, supportive environment. A Texas LCDC license and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, counseling, or related field or six years of directly related experience plus LCDC.
• Current valid license as an LCDC in Texas.
• Must have a valid Texas Driver's License with clear MVR.

Responsibilities

• Manage client services in compliance with VOA-TX requirements.
• Train counseling staff on treatment program and policy.
• Provide clinical guidance to counseling staff.
• Report client services weekly.
• Conduct groups and individual counseling as described by the program.
• Complete psychosocial assessments and develop treatment plans.
• Coordinate family groups and on-call coverage.
• Oversee financial management and staff supervision.

Day-To-Day

• Manages effective client services in compliance with VOA-TX program requirements and funding provisions.
• Trains new counseling staff on treatment program and policy (i.e. intake, orientation, treatment plan documentation of services provided).
• Provides clinical guidance to counseling staff.
• Reports client services weekly.
• Conducts groups and individual counseling as described by the program.
• Conducts and/or attends staffing to assess client progress.
• Completes client psychosocial assessment and develops and/or revises individual client treatment plans.
• Conducts weekly client progress assessment.
• Coordinates implementation of family groups.
• Alternates weekend after hours "on call" rotation coverage

Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in criminal justice, counseling, or related field plus education requirements that follow the guidelines for clinical licensure as reflected under Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations OR six years of directly related experience plus LCDC.
• Therapeutic community environment preferred
• Experience in the supervision of employees
• Current valid license as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC)
• Must have a valid Texas Driver\'s License, clear MVR and ability to be insured.
