Job summary

Volunteers of America Texas in Houston seeks an LCDC Intern to support counseling and case management within substance use treatment programs. The role involves intake assessments, creating treatment plans, and delivering individual and group counseling under supervision.

The position requires pursuing LCDC licensure, a preference for a Bachelor’s degree in social work, and a valid Texas driver’s license. Work schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, with Saturday hours (8am–4pm) and full-time

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related field preferred.
• Valid Texas Driver's License with clear MVR and ability to be insured.

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial intake screening and assessment to determine individual treatment needs.
• Conducts orientation for individuals referred to the program.
• Creates individual treatment plans and revises as clients progress.
• Provides clients with individual and group counseling and case management services.
• Maintains up-to-date client records and documentation.

Job Type: Full Time

Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday. (Must be willing to work Saturdays from 8am to 4pm.)

Day-To-Day:

• Conducts initial intake screening and assessment to determine individual treatment needs from clients seeking substance use treatment as required per program.
• Conducts orientation for individuals referred to the program.
• Creates individual treatment plans based on assessment findings, reviews/revises as client progresses.
• Provides clients with individual and group counseling and case management services, as related to their ongoing needs using approved curricula.
• Maintains up-to-date client record documentation including filing all clinical documentation per requirements of law.
• Prepares periodic reports on client status and activities as required by funding agencies.
• Monitors and notifies Director of potential psychological crises with individual clients that may affect the operation of the program or the facility, or may necessitate further intervention.
• Maintains documentation of treatment in CMBHS or other electronic record-keeping, and other client files as required by funding sources.

Qualifications:

• Must hold a current LCDC license or be actively pursuing licensure as an LCDC Intern.
