Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Clinical Coordinator to lead professional nursing care for patients and families, directing RNs, LPNs, students, and non-professional staff. You will oversee unit operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and high-quality care across shifts.

Strong interpersonal skills, advanced assessment capabilities, and a commitment to Mercy Service Standards are essential. This role emphasizes education, performance evaluation, and administrative duties as designated by the unit

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current RN license in the state of practice.
  • At least 2 years of experience in charge/clinical coordinator setting.
  • BLS certification.
  • English reading and communication proficiency.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for diverse community.
  • Advanced assessment skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care for patients and families under direction and supervision.
  • Direct and supervise RNs, LPNs, students, and non-professional staff in patient care.
  • Ensure unit operations meet regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Participate in education, development, and performance evaluation of personnel and other administrative duties.

Position Details:

  • At least 2 years of experience in charge/clinical coordinator setting.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS).

  • Other skills & knowledge (skills, knowledge, abilities): At least 2 years of experience.

  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.

  • Basic computer knowledge.

  • Organizing and coordinating skills.

  • Knowledge of accreditation and certification requirements and standards.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.

  • Advanced assessment skills.


Find your calling at Mercy! The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for professional nursing care for patients and their families by direction, supervision and example. Provides direction to Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, students and non-professional nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. Responsible for operation of the Unit ensuring that all regulatory requirements and standards are being fulfilled. Participates in the education and development of personnel and performance evaluation as well as other administrative duties as designated by the Director of the unit. Must have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, be dedicated to the provision of quality patient care and use sound judgment in decision making. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Our Mercy health system was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1986. But our heritage goes back more than 195 years. It began with an Irish woman named Catherine McAuley, who was determined to help women and children in Dublin experiencing poverty. Though Catherine had a modest upbringing, she received an unexpected inheritance that allowed her to fulfill that dream. In 1827, she opened the first House of Mercy in Dublin, intending to teach skills to women and educate children. Many volunteers came to help. A few years later, Catherine founded the Sisters of Mercy, one of the first religious orders whose Sisters were free to walk among the poor and visit them in their homes. In 1843, the Sisters of Mercy came to the United States. In 1856, they traveled to St. Louis. In the years to come, they would establish hospitals throughout the Midwest. Many of these would join together in 1986 as Mercy.
