Job summary

Abilities First in the Hudson Valley is seeking a full-time Clinical Coordinator to provide behavior analysis services and coordinate behavior programming for adults with developmental disabilities. You will develop, implement, and monitor behavior support plans, supervise staff, collaborate with families and professionals, and ensure high-quality, person-centered care in a multidisciplinary team.

This role requires expertise in OPWDD regulations, strong communication, and the ability to travel

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field required.
  • LCSW certification or eligibility required.
  • Minimum five years’ experience with individuals with developmental disabilities and behavior support plans.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, guidance, and training to staff.
  • Provides direct clinical supervision to assigned staff.
  • Conducts required psychological assessments for service recipients.
  • Completes Functional Behavioral Assessments and develops behavior support plans.
  • Coordinates data collection, analysis, and reporting for behavior programs.
  • Ensures all required documentation complies with standards.
  • Develops and oversees Behavior Support Plans and related interventions.
  • Travel to local service areas as required.
  • Update policies and procedures and ensure trainings are current.

Abilities First is seeking a full-time Clinical Coordinator to provide behavior analysis services and coordinate behavior programming for the individuals we support. As a key member of the multidisciplinary treatment team, the Clinical Coordinator will develop, implement, and monitor behavior support plans while collaborating with staff, families, and other professionals to promote positive outcomes. This position primarily serves adults with developmental disabilities and plays an essential role in ensuring high-quality, person-centered care. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and a strong working knowledge of OPWDD 14 NYCRR Part 633.16 Behavioral Regulations. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

Annual Salary Range: $103,000 to $111,000 per year

Responsibilities to include
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and training to applicable agency staff (clinical, direct support, management, and others as needed).
  • Provides direct clinical supervision to assigned staff.
  • Conducts required psychological assessments for service recipients.
  • Completes Functional Behavioral Assessments, develops behavior plans, and medication monitoring plans as needed.
  • Coordinates the collection, summarization, and analysis of data related to behavior programs
  • Completes all required documentation in accordance with agency and regulatory standards as required.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of principles of learning and training methods based upon positive reinforcement.
  • Coordinates outreach linkage with other clinical community services.
  • Develop therapeutic relationship with participants.
  • Develops and oversees implementation and training of Behavior Support Plans, Medication Monitoring Plans, or other intervention strategies in conjunction with Residential Services.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of principles of learning and teaching methods based upon positive reinforcement.
  • Participates in admissions decision process, screens referral material, attends screening sessions, and makes observation visits to applicant's current program.
  • Coordinates clinical review committees.
  • Participates in meetings/committees as required (i.e., Human Rights Committee, Risk Management Committee, Incident Review Committee, Corporate Compliance, etc.) to ensure adherence to best practices across programs.
  • Provide direct clinical supervision to interns through approved agency partnerships with educational facilities.
  • Attends in-service training program, professional seminars, etc. to increase professional skills. When requested or assigned, represents the agency at professional meetings, conferences.
  • Ability to travel to local service areas required.
  • Update applicable policies and procedures.
  • Ensures all required trainings and certifications required are current, and seeks further support and training where needed.
  • Adhere to agency Standards of Conduct, which require all employees, consultants, board members, volunteers and affiliates to perform their responsibilities according to ethical and legal standards with honesty, integrity, fairness, good faith and respect for others and the law.
  • Follows all agency policy and procedures and demonstrates continuous regard to personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Performs other appropriate job-related activities as requested by your supervisor or as circumstances warrant.
  • Will incorporate core concepts of person-centered excellence by respecting people’s concerns and responding accordingly and will use “teachable moments” to assist people in understanding and exercising their rights.

Requirements
  • A Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field; LCSW required.
  • Experience in assessment techniques and behavior support plan development.
  • at least five years of experience: (1) working directly with individuals with developmental disabilities, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of behavior support plans; and/or (2) providing supervision and training to others in the implementation of behavior support plans.
  • Certification or ability to become certified in SCIP-R
  • Strong behavioral analysis skills
  • Effective communication and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Excellent communication skills and proficient with computer applications including Microsoft Office
  • Valid NYS driver's license free of moving violations deemed acceptable by our insurance carrier

  2. Lift individuals by using appropriate techniques, including but not limited to usage of tools to assist, such as the Hoyer Lift.
  3. Assist individuals in ambulation by providing physical assistance, including use of a gait belt or other equipment where necessary.
  4. Have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  5. Have the ability to push, pull, and maneuver adults in wheelchairs.
  6. Possess verbal and written communication skills, in English, to ensure adequate regulatory documentation.
