Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and three years of professional medical coding experience.
• CPC/AAPC or CCS-P certification required.
• Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS and ADA coding; experience with payer guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Extract billable services from patient charts and apply CPT/ICD-10/HCPCS/ADA codes; enter into AxiUm for submission.
• Educate faculty and residents on correct coding and documentation to maximize reimbursement and compliance.
• Research coding issues using professional resources and payer guidelines to resolve discrepancies and maximize revenues.
• Attend continuing education and meetings related to coding and billing.
• Fill in during staffing shortages for financial counseling and related duties.
