Job summary

Bridgewell is seeking a Housing Case Manager to support individuals in obtaining and maintaining housing, maximizing benefits, and coordinating with external agencies. The role emphasizes relationships with providers and landlords to ensure housing stability and access to resources.

The position requires knowledge of MA housing subsidies, strong organizational skills, and experience with HUD HMIS. Monday–Friday, 40 hours, on-site, with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of housing services, challenges, and resources within the local area.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts entitlements, housing subsidies, vocational opportunities, and State insurance programs.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Warmth, empathy, and ability to set limits while maintaining a respectful attitude.
  • Flexibility, good judgment, organizational skills, and reliability.
  • Proficient in using computer, word processing, spreadsheets, and internet navigation.
  • Bilingual/bicultural preferred (Spanish or Khmer).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with local service agencies, providers, realtors, and landlords.
  • Collect tenant rents and follow through on late rent collections; submit rents to Bridgewell finance.
  • Conduct apartment inspections and generate reports for supervisor.
  • Mediate disputes between tenants and the Property Manager.
  • Report maintenance needs to Facilities in a timely manner.
  • Assist tenants with HUD housing applications and other housing/education documents.
  • Document housing progress in HUD HMIS and client medical records.
  • Present informational sessions on housing stabilization and benefits.
  • Help individuals maximize benefits and income, including entitlements and insurance management.
  • Maintain HUD compliance and core training certifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary

The Housing Case Manager is responsible for supporting individuals in obtaining and maintaining housing, maximizing benefits, working with external agencies, establishing community relationships, and accessing internal resources as needed.

Schedule

Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm (40 Hours)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Develop and maintain positive relationships with local service agencies, providers, realtors, and community landlords.
  2. Collect tenant rents and follow through on late rent collections including distribution of notices. Submit rents to Bridgewell financial services department.
  3. Conduct apartment inspections quarterly and/or as situation may warrant. Generate correspondence/reports for supervisor and follow-up letters to tenants as needed.
  4. Mediate with Property Manager common in-house disputes between tenants.
  5. Report maintenance needs reported by the tenant to Bridgewell Facilities Department in a timely manner.
  6. Provide support to individuals with completing HUD housing applications/education applications and other needs associated with housing and continuing education documents.
  7. Document housing progress for each tenant using HUD HMIS system and tier client medical records.
  8. Conduct individual and group informational/educational sessions focused on ensuring housing stabilization, housing challenges and other issues.
  9. Work with individuals on maximizing benefits and income including entitlements, work opportunities, and insurance management.
  10. Maintain required documentation according to HUD and all applicable regulatory standards.
  11. Maintain applicable core training certifications.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience
  1. Preferred educational background: Associate's Degree, or working towards degree in related field, or High School diploma or GED with a minimum of 2 years of successful employment within a housing and/or benefits maximization focused program.
  2. Experience managing individuals with substance abuse and mental health conditions.
Required Skills/Knowledge
  1. Knowledge of housing services, challenges, and resources within demographic area
  2. Knowledge of Massachusetts entitlements, housing subsidies, vocational opportunities, and State insurance programs.
  3. Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
  4. Warmth, empathy, and ability to set limits while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
  5. Flexibility, good judgment, organizational skills, and reliable
  6. Proficient in using computer, word processing, spreadsheets, navigation of internet
  7. Bilingual/bicultural preferred especially in Spanish or Khmer.
