Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. It involves performing nursing support duties such as providing basic care services to patients without an RN or LPN license. Positions in this role work under the direction of physicians, mid-level practitioners, and possibly registered nurses depending on the unit. It is a specialized technologist role requiring vocational education, training, and experience, most commonly applied in patient care or scientific/laboratory jobs. This is an experienced level position requiring basic knowledge of procedures and tools, working under moderate supervision, with routine problem-solving and some interpretative tasks.

Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA).
  • Completion of Nursing Fundamentals in an accredited Nursing program.
  • One year of related experience as a Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Assistant, Critical Care Tech, or Patient Care Tech.
  • Experience in acute care settings.
Duties and Responsibilities

The following are general responsibilities and may include additional duties:

  • Assist registered nurses in functional patient care, ensuring efficient, patient-centered services appropriate to developmental stages. Communicate findings to nurses.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, ensuring safety and dignity, and perform delegated procedures.
  • Greet and respond to patients, families, visitors, and staff professionally.
  • Record and communicate patient clinical data timely.
  • Prepare rooms for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Transport patients safely and respectfully, acting as a sitter as needed.
  • Provide comfort measures and promote mobility and activity.
  • Set up procedures, clean equipment, and collect specimens following protocols.
  • Maintain biomedical equipment and report malfunctions.
  • Assist with wound care, perform EKGs, and connect monitoring equipment.
  • Manage patient belongings, perform admission/discharge tasks, respond to call lights, and perform hourly rounding.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting up to 30-35 lbs, prolonged standing and walking, with occasional bending and reaching.
  • Manual dexterity for procedures and computer use.
  • Ability to see and interpret reports and screens.
Skills & Abilities
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and demonstrate age-appropriate care.
  • Computer literacy.
