RWJBarnabas Health’s Medical Surgical Unit V is seeking a Clinical Care Technician to support registered nurses with patient care, monitor vitals, assist with activities of daily living, and document patient status in the EHR. This on-site role emphasizes teamwork, empathy, and clinical excellence in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The CCT will perform tasks such as vital signs, phlebotomy, bed-side care, infection control, and effective communication with the care team to ensure patient

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.
• Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience preferred or CNA certificate.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily patient care including vital signs, mobility, and personal care.
• Support RNs by monitoring patients and carrying out care plans.
• Document patient information in EHRs with confidentiality.
• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and staff.
• Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team to coordinate care.
• Provide BLS support in emergencies as needed.

As a Clinical Care Technician (CCT), a typical day may include:

• Assisting patients with activities of daily living and providing nursing care to patients including taking vital signs, EKGS, performing phlebotomy, assisting with bedside care, i.e. bathing, mouth care, skin care.
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to track patient health status
• Document patient information accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict confidentiality
• Implement infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff, adhering to facility policies
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and address concerns
• Support emergency response efforts by applying Basic Life Support (BLS) skills such as CPR when needed in acute situations
• Providing patient care, based on physical, education, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients
• Providing for effective and safe patient outcomes through practice, judgment and critical actions
• Ongoing communication with patients and nursing colleagues regarding status of patient’s care
• Participating in collaboration of our patient's plan of care from admission to discharge to ensure safe transitioning

To be considered for this CCT opportunity, you must have a High School Diploma / GED and a current American Heart Association BLS certification. Previous nursing assistant experience or clinical experience from an accredited nursing program is preferred or a CNA certificate. This position offers a 3 shift per weekschedule (36 hours per week)from 7am to 7:30p.m. and includes every other weekend as well as some holidays.
