This role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. It involves performing nursing support duties such as providing basic care to patients without an RN or LPN license. Positions in this role work under the direction of physicians, mid-level practitioners, and registered nurses depending on the unit. The role is most commonly applied to patient care and/or scientific/laboratory jobs and requires specialized knowledge or skills gained through vocational education, training, and experience. It works under moderate supervision, handles routine problems, and may require interpretation or deviation from standard procedures.
The Clinical Care Technician works under the supervision of a professional nurse, assisting in direct patient care, providing environmental support, and facilitating patient safety on designated units. The role involves maintaining competencies in role-specific skills and supporting a patient and family-centered care environment.
Assist the professional registered nurse in functional care, perform delegated tasks, and communicate findings. Provide or assist with activities of daily living, greet patients and visitors, collect clinical data, prepare rooms, transport patients, provide comfort measures, promote mobility, set up procedures, clean equipment, collect specimens, care for biomedical equipment, perform wound care, conduct EKGs, monitor patients, and handle admission/discharge tasks. Respond to call lights, perform hourly rounding, and ensure patient safety.
