Job Profile Summary

This role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. It also involves performing Nursing Support duties such as providing basic care services to patients without an RN or LPN license. Positions in this nursing support work under the direction of physicians, mid-level practitioners, and may work under the direction of registered nurses depending on their unit. This role requires specialized knowledge or skills gained through vocational education, training, and experience, primarily applied to patient care and scientific/laboratory jobs. It is an experienced level role requiring basic knowledge of procedures and tools obtained through work experience and vocational or technical education. The role works under moderate supervision, handling routine problems and occasionally requiring interpretation or deviation from standard procedures.

Job Overview

The Clinical Care Technician works under the supervision of a professional nurse and collaborates to meet patient needs within the scope of the role. This role assists in direct patient care, provides environmental support, and facilitates patient safety on designated units and others as needed. The technician must complete and maintain competencies in role-specific skills and support a patient and family-centered care environment.

Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA).
  • Completion of Nursing Fundamentals in an accredited Nursing program.
  • One (1) year of related experience as a Nursing Assistant (NA), Patient Care Assistant (PCA), Critical Care Tech (CCT), or Patient Care Tech (PCT).
  • Acute care experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist the registered nurse in the functional care of patients, ensuring efficient, patient-centered care appropriate to developmental age. Provide or assist with activities of daily living, communicate findings to the nurse, prepare rooms, transport patients, provide comfort measures, promote mobility, set up procedures, and perform various clinical tasks including specimen collection, equipment care, wound care, EKGs, and patient admissions/discharges. Respond promptly to call lights and hourly rounding, ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Physical Requirements:
  • Lifting up to 30-35 lbs, prolonged standing, walking, and other physical activities.
  • Manual dexterity for procedures and computer operation.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to read, write, and understand medical terminology.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential material.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Knowledge to provide age-appropriate care.
