Job summary

Huntsville Hospital is seeking a Medical Assistant to support a clinician provider practice. You will initiate patient care assessments, gather vital signs, prepare patients and exam rooms, and collect specimens.

You will coordinate care for patients with chronic disease and aid in transitions within the care continuum. You will collaborate with the provider team to support preventative visits and health coaching for self-management and lifestyle changes.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; post-secondary education preferred.
• Medical assistant certification preferred.
• 3 years medical experience, preferably in an office/clinic setting caring for chronic disease patients.

Responsibilities

• Assess problems/conditions during workup and document in medical records.
• Assist provider in examination, treatment and referrals; prepare papers and equipment; injections and point-of-care testing.
• Order and maintain adequate supply levels.
• Train new clinical staff members within the clinic.
• Coordinate clinical coverage with network leadership.
• Stratify patient population by risk to manage care and determine visit frequency.
• Track test results, medication acquisition, missed appointments, and follow-ups.
• Use AWV review tools to identify gaps in problem lists before provider visits.
• Identify scheduling needs and patients needing care outside of scheduled visits.
