Job summary

Maimonides Medical Center is seeking a Biostatistician I to support the Office of Biostatistics within the MRC. You will provide statistical expertise to resident and fellow physicians and contribute to clinical studies aimed at improving patient care and advancing medical knowledge.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or a related field.
• Experience in a healthcare or clinical research setting is preferred but not required.
• 1–2 years of experience in biostatistics or related fields, with exposure to clinical research or healthcare data analysis.
• Proficiency in statistical software packages such as R, SAS, or SPSS. Familiarity with clinical data management systems is a plus.
• Experience conducting power and sample size calculations for clinical or biomedical studies.
• Strong understanding of statistical methodologies used in clinical research (regression, survival analysis, hypothesis testing).
• Ability to communicate results to non-statistical audiences.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Clinical Teams to provide statistical support for clinical research projects and ensure methods align with objectives.
• Draft and review research protocols, focusing on statistical design, outcomes, data collection, and methodological approaches.
• Perform sample size and power calculations and communicate results and adjustments.
• Analyze data from small-scale studies and prepare statistical reports and visualizations for clinical teams.
• Provide statistical consultation to clinical staff and researchers on questions and methods.
• Educate residents and fellows on statistical principles, methods, and data interpretation; offer training on software.
