Clinical Behavioral Specialist (Part-time)

Supports To Empower People (STEP) is hiring a Clinical Behavior Specialist, Part-Time to provide positive behavioral supports for adult men with intellectual and developmental, as well as behavioral and mental health issues in Rhode Island. STEP provides empowering assistance in therapeutically receptive environments which allows participants to embark upon the clinical challenges encountered and to safely explore and pursue their dreams.

Schedule: Part-time, 12 hours per week

Compensation:

The pay range for this position is $38.00 to $48.00 per hour. The listed range reflects what we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this role at the time of posting the position. The actual compensation an employee is offered may vary based on several factors such as experience, education, licensure, certifications and qualifications. This range may be modified in the future.

What You’ll Do:

  • Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and other evaluations to identify behavioral needs for individuals referred to and supported by JRI STEP.
  • Develop and write individualized behavior support plans (BSPs) based on assessment data using best practices.
  • Assess, develop, implement, and monitor positive clinical support plans for people served by JRI STEP.
  • Operate within principles of community-based services, positive behavior management, trauma-informed care, data-driven programming, and least restrictive practices.
  • Provide direct behavioral interventions and model strategies for staff and caregivers.
  • Monitor and document client progress, adjusting plans as needed.
  • Monitor, review and analyze data, incorporating reports, observation, and feedback from JRI staff and individuals’ support team and other providers.
  • Train and support staff in implementing behavior plans with fidelity.
  • Consult and oversee staff implementation of programming, recordkeeping and data collection.
  • Collaborate with program management, direct support staff, and natural support persons to ensure consistency across environments.
  • Maintain compliance with ethical standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Ensure clinical supports function within agency policies and procedures, according to specific procedures for the individual person and program site, and in compliance with applicable regulations including licensing standards for community programs.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, case reviews, and professional development activities.
  • Collect and maintain clinical information records, both paper and digital.
  • Collect and maintain risk management and quality program indicator data.
  • Provide consultation and intervention to prevent and respond to clinical events.
  • Use appropriate physical intervention including physical restraint as specified in the individual’s ISP and consistent with regulations, program policies and procedures.
  • Maintain licensure, training and certification in required and recommended relevant topics.
  • Perform other duties as required for maintaining the safe and effective operation of all JRI services and programs.
  • Attend and present all behavior plans to JRI STEP’s Human Rights Committee.

Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • LMHC, Psychologist or BCBA licensed in Rhode Island.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in behavioral health or clinical settings.
  • Strong understanding of ABA principles and behavior modification techniques.
  • Experience working with persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities with complex clinical diagnosis.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Driver’s license and access to an insured, inspected, and registered vehicle to be used during work hours.
  • Background and driving record checks will be performed.
