Hennepin Healthcare is hiring for our Mobile Health Unit Clinic in headquartered in downtown Minneapolis. This role can be filled at the one of these levels: Clinical Associate (1.0 FTE), Ambulatory EMT (1.0 FTE), Medical Assistant (1.0 FTE), or Licensed Practical Nurse (0.9 FTE; 4-5 days/week, 8 hour shifts). This benefit-eligible role is union represented and primarily works day shift. Opportunities for tuition reimbursement and advancement. This role is supported by grant funding that is approved through June, 2026.
***This opening is currently set to work Monday-Friday day hours but may expand to include evenings and weekends as we grow.
A sign-on bonus is available for eligible external MA or LPN candidates (current employees and former employees returning to HHS within one year are ineligible). The sign-on bonus amount is $1,500 for uncertified Medical Assistants and $3,000 for LPNs and Medical Assistants certified/registered through the AAMA, AMT, or NHCA.
Pediatric Mobile Health
Pediatric Mobile Health unit is a part of the Department of Pediatrics at Hennepin Healthcare. The mobile unit provides care to patients who are reluctant or unable to be seen in a traditional healthcare facility. The mobile unit team consists of a provider (pediatric nurse practitioner or pediatrician), an EMT and a student or resident. The team provides basic health assessments, well child exams, basic labs such, referrals back to a medical home and/or specialty care, and connects families to institutional or community resources that address social determinant of health needs. In addition to providing care to individual household families, the mobile unit also provides conducts pop-up clinics at schools, parking lots, places of worship or other venues in the community. In addition to basic health assessments, staff administer immunizations such as childhood vaccines, influenza and COVID-19 vaccines at pop-up clinics.
Committed to creating a culturally competent and inclusive work and care environment, the Pediatric Mobile Health team partners with patients and their families to ensure access to outstanding care through a mobile unit primarily serving the pediatric patient population. As a member of the Pediatric Mobile Health team, the EMT will provide care in the mobile unit and at various locations and field work throughout the community.
SUMMARY
Clinical Associate - Under the direction, delegation, and supervision of a Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP), Manager/ Clinic Nurse Supervisor, charge nurse, and/or their delegates, the Clinical Associate performs basic direct patient care tasks and clinic support functions.
Ambulatory EMT - Under general supervision, the Ambulatory EMT performs a wide variety of medical and clinic support functions. The Ambulatory EMT assists with indirect and direct patient care and performs specialized medical procedures of a routine nature as determined by established Policies, Procedures and Clinical Protocols within an Ambulatory setting.
Medical Assistant - Under the direction/ delegation of a physician(s) or other clinical care team members, the Medical Assistant contributes to the health and well-being of patients by providing quality and competent patient & family centered care/ services that meet HCMC and departmental standards.
Licensed Practical Nurse - With the context of the Hennepin County Medical Center Relationship-Based Care Practice Model, under the direction of providers and/or the registered nurse, the Licensed Practical Nurse assists providers in the delivery of care and performs nursing functions within the LPN scope of practice.
