The Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC is seeking board-certified (preferred) or board-eligible Adolescent/Adult Psychiatrists to care for USC students. We are looking for an experienced psychiatrist to join a diverse, multidisciplinary team committed to providing excellent, multicultural, clinical treatment to USC students and training to psychiatry residents.

This is a part-time clinical faculty position with an academic appointment and clinical service assignments at USC Student Health, Counseling and Mental Health Services. Salary is competitive and based on experience. Description of Counseling and Mental Health

USC's Counseling and Mental Health Services provides mental health care to support students' academic and personal goals, including counseling, assessment, crisis intervention, case management, psychiatric evaluations, consultation, outreach, training, and supervision. We adopt a bio-psycho-social approach and value diversity, compassion, and respect in our work.

Training is a key component, with opportunities for trainees across disciplines through supervision, seminars, and self-reflection. We foster a respectful, collaborative work environment that values ongoing learning and cultural competency.

Essential Functions
  • Work closely with the Associate Director of Student Psychiatric Services.
  • Provide outpatient psychiatric care, including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, up to 16-17.5 hours weekly.
  • Include Saturday telemedicine shifts and one weekday evening per week.
  • Facilitate referrals and hospitalizations as needed.
  • Support medication management with brief therapy and motivational interviewing.
  • Participate in on-call emergencies and complete documentation within 48 hours.
  • Attend multidisciplinary meetings, provide consultations, collaborate with other providers, and contribute to quality improvement activities.
  • Supervise psychiatry residents (PGY4s).
  • Attend departmental meetings and Grand Rounds.
  • This position involves a hybrid of telemedicine and in-person work; it is not remote.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensed Physician in California and board-certified or eligible psychiatrist.
  • Experience in short-term treatment, stabilization, and crisis intervention.
  • Multicultural competency, including working with diverse student populations.
  • Resilient, self-aware, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with university students, LGBTQIA, and international populations.
  • Experience with identity issues, trauma, eating disorders, and substance use.
  • Advanced clinical and psychopharmacological skills, with an interest in evidence-based guidelines.
  • Commitment to ethical practice, professional growth, and lifelong learning.
  • Foreign language skills are a plus.
