Job description

Position Summary:

The Katz School of Science and Health is seeking a full-time Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Clinical Education to work in our Physician Assistant Studies program. Responsibilities include collaborating with the PA Program Director to develop and deliver clinical education to PA students.

Position Responsibilities:

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Developing and evaluating the Clinical Education curriculum
  2. Maintaining clinical sites in collaboration with the Clinical Outreach Coordinator
  3. Negotiating clinical schedules with various sites
  4. Managing documentation such as Affiliation Agreements, Preceptor Profiles, Licensure verification, Background Checks, immunizations, and other site requirements
  5. Overseeing academic performance evaluations during clinical rotations, including exams and assessments
  6. Conducting site visits and evaluations with preceptors
  7. Monitoring student progress and coordinating remediation as needed
  8. Ensuring compliance with educational objectives during clinical training
  9. Addressing concerns related to students, sites, and preceptors
  10. Developing activities for Call Back Week with clinical faculty
  11. Assisting in the development of the Summative Evaluation course
  12. Participating in program self-assessment and accreditation processes
  13. Engaging in student recruitment and retention efforts
  14. Performing additional duties as assigned by the Program Director
Experience & Educational Background:
Credential Requirements:
  • Physician Assistant certification (current NCCPA) with NYS licensure or eligibility
  • Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of clinical experience or Master's degree with at least 5 years of clinical experience

All applicants must have:

  • Current NCCPA certification
  • NYS PA licensure or eligibility
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5 to 10 years of clinical experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills with faculty and staff
  • Management and clinical education experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare operations
