Description

The Anthony S. Mecca Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is seeking a full time Clinical Assistant Professor to join its faculty. The successful candidate will provide patient care; supervise and mentor predoctoral and postgraduate students in didactic and clinical settings; teach across the department’s clinical services; provide clinical consultations; and engage in scholarly activities related to oral and maxillofacial surgery.

The faculty member will contribute to the department’s commitment to preparing graduates to deliver inclusive, patient-centered care to individuals with intellectual, developmental, physical, cognitive, behavioral, and medically complex conditions.

The mission of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is to educate and train clinicians and scientists, advance knowledge in the field, promote the discovery of improved therapies, and serve the public by providing high-quality surgical care.

Faculty in this role may also participate in the College of Dentistry’s faculty practice, providing specialized diagnostic and clinical care while contributing to the institution’s academic and educational mission.

Candidates must be sensitive to the needs of and possess an interest in working in a broad academic community with different viewpoints and backgrounds.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $135K - $205K. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a DDS or DMD degree, be board-certified or board-eligible in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and be eligible for licensure in New York State.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Demonstrated clinical expertise in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care.
• Experience providing care to patients with complex medical, developmental, cognitive, behavioral, or physical needs.
• Prior teaching, supervision, and/or mentoring experience with predoctoral or postgraduate students.
• Demonstrated interest in scholarly activity and advancing knowledge in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a commitment to inclusive clinical education and patient care.
• A minimum of five years of clinical practice experience is preferred.
• Candidates should be actively practicing dentists with current clinical experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
