The Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC seeks a California licensed psychologist specializing in addiction disorders. We value candidates who reflect our diverse patient population, possess strong clinical skills, and are familiar with outpatient clinic duties within the Keck Medicine of USC healthcare system. This is a full-time clinical faculty position with an academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences and clinical service responsibilities at Keck Medical Center. Faculty Practice Description

Located at Norris Healthcare Center (HC3)/Keck Hospital, our multidisciplinary team, including hepatologists and advanced practice providers, offers high-quality substance abuse treatment for patients with alcohol-related liver disease. The Substance Abuse Program specializes in evidence-based treatments for alcohol-related disorders.

Essential Functions
  1. Report to clinic/division leadership.
  2. Conduct diagnostic evaluations, biopsychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide evidence-based practice related to alcohol-related liver disease.
  3. Provide individual and group therapy for patients with alcohol-related substance abuse disorders.
  4. Participate as a team member and evaluate crisis situations.
  5. Provide after-hours on-call service as assigned.
  6. Evaluate substance use in transplant candidacy through comprehensive assessments and medical record review.
  7. Offer ongoing education and counseling to patients and families, facilitating navigation through treatment and family dynamics.
  8. Present objective assessments to the interdisciplinary review committee for liver transplant candidacy.
  9. Educate patients and families to promote informed participation.
  10. Maintain communication with healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
  11. Complete documentation and billing per policies.
  12. Maintain clinical records and comply with regulatory policies.
  13. Participate in clinical outcome evaluations.
  14. Collaborate with other healthcare providers involved in patient care.
  15. Attend and contribute to departmental meetings and quality improvement activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
  • Licensed in California.
  • Experience with evidence-based interventions for addiction, especially alcohol-related disorders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse, multicultural, and LGBTQIA+ affirmative environment.
  • Interest and skill in an integrated care approach.
  • Willingness to see high patient volumes and meet productivity standards.
  • Quick and accurate clinical assessment skills.
  • Adaptability to evolving clinical practices.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Over 5 years of post-licensure experience treating substance abuse disorders, primarily alcohol-related.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and DSM-5 knowledge.
