Position Overview

The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is the largest private employer in Los Angeles. The Keck School of Medicine (KSOM) and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) Department of Pediatrics are seeking a physician at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinician Educator) with expertise in child abuse pediatrics. The successful candidate will join the Audrey Hepburn CARES Center at CHLA, a multidisciplinary child protection center specializing in child maltreatment and foster care.

Responsibilities
  1. Providing evaluations and follow-up assessments for suspected child maltreatment cases in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  2. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and subspecialty services to coordinate care.
  3. Offering evaluation and medical care for children and youth in foster care.
  4. Training physicians, hospital staff, and community professionals on child maltreatment topics.
  5. Coordinating with Child Protective Services, law enforcement, and judicial entities.
  6. Engaging in academic activities such as teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and participating in research, quality improvement, and protocol development.
Qualifications
  • MD, DO, or equivalent qualification.
  • Completion of pediatric residency and fellowship in child abuse preferred; experience in child abuse pediatrics and foster care is also considered.
  • Eligibility for California medical licensure and hospital privileges.
  • Experience in academic medical centers and a commitment to teaching.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and partnership-building skills.
Additional Information

Academic appointment at USC Keck School of Medicine will be commensurate with experience. USC values diversity and encourages applicants from underrepresented groups. The position offers a competitive salary range of $95,904 to $417,709, along with comprehensive benefits and CME support.
