Job Summary

The Clinical Assistant II is a senior-level clinician providing clinical and administrative support to physicians and surgeons. This role involves coordinating patient care, acting as a liaison among various healthcare stakeholders, supporting high-volume practices, and possibly traveling between multiple sites. The individual mentors and trains less experienced staff and may serve in a lead capacity.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Serve as a liaison between physicians, patients, families, healthcare providers, and insurance companies to ensure quality patient care.
  2. Coordinate daily activities of the physician team, potentially including scheduling and travel between sites.
  3. Assist with patient care duties such as preparing exam rooms, assisting with procedures, taking vital signs, and relaying instructions.
  4. Handle clerical tasks including managing medical records, obtaining reports, and maintaining charts using electronic systems.
  5. Manage referrals, coordinate multidisciplinary appointments, and ensure proper scheduling and follow-up.
  6. Inventory and restock medical supplies, ensure proper sterilization, and maintain safety standards.
  7. Perform phlebotomy duties as needed.
  8. Update patient demographic and insurance information, verify insurance, and assist with pre-certifications.
  9. Train and mentor Medical Assistant I and II staff and other clinical personnel.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED and completion of an approved Medical Assistant certification program.
  • 5+ years of experience in a busy practice preferred.
  • BCLS certification from AHA required.
Additional Information
