Position Summary

To provide the best orthopedic care available by following best medical care practices and physician protocols, delivering a high volume of orthopedic care by optimizing provider-patient contact time, ensuring patients are adequately prepared prior to seeing the physician, and that they thoroughly understand their condition, participate in their care, and receive all necessary information and education materials to adhere to their care plan.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service to all patients, visitors, and coworkers.
  • Prepare all patient charts in Athena, ensuring all pertinent records, test results, imaging, and referral information are available.
  • Ensure zones are stocked with medical supplies, injectables, and patient information brochures.
  • Escort patients into exam rooms and complete patient intake documentation.
  • Prepare patients for visits by removing sutures, staples, dressings, and assisting with changing as necessary, positioning patients, and completing consents.
  • Assist the physician during visits with injections or procedures.
  • Prepare prescriptions, notes, referrals, and educational materials.
  • Ensure patient understanding of physician instructions for medications and follow-up care.
  • Complete work comp status forms, provide copies to patients, and submit originals to the WC department.
  • Disassemble patient charts, dispose of PHI properly, and scan documents.
  • Clean exam rooms and ensure sharps and biohazard containers are replaced.
  • Restock exam rooms and MA stations for the next day.
  • Maintain the security of all PHI in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
