Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join a brand new 24-bed surgical unit serving all ages, including Orthopedics, General Surgery & Urology, Solid Organ Transplant and ESRD patients.

The role involves supervised direct patient care, assisting with feeding and hygiene, and recording vital signs, with a 36-hour workweek including rotating days/nights and every other weekend.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year CA experience, CNA Certification, or one round of clinical rotations.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work on a team.

Responsibilities

• Work on a brand new 24-bed complex surgical unit (all ages) including orthopedics, general surgery & urology.
• Under supervision, provide basic direct care to patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse.
• Assist patients with feeding and hygiene; obtain, measure and record routine information (temperature, pulse, blood pressure).
• Transport patients, supplies and equipment as needed.
• Identify and report changes in patient condition to Registered Nurse.
• Work 36-hours per week, rotating days/nights and every other weekend.

• Being under regular supervision and following established procedures and instructions, providing basic direct care to patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse.
• Assisting patients with feeding and hygiene, obtaining, measuring and recording routine information such as temperature, pulse and blood pressure, and performing other related duties according to specific needs of unit.
• Transporting patients, supplies and equipment as needed.
• Identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to Registered Nurse.
• Working 36-hours per week, rotating days/nights and every other weekend

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

• A HS Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

• 1 year CA experience, CNA Certification, or one round of clinical rotations.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work on a team.
