Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a CNA/clinical rotation candidate to join a brand new 24-bed complex surgical unit serving all ages, including Orthopedics, General Surgery & Urology, Solid Organ Transplant and ESRD patients.

You will provide basic direct patient care under RN supervision, assist with feeding and hygiene, and record vital signs while transporting patients and supplies as required. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for success on this fast-paced unit.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year CA experience, CNA Certification, or one round of clinical rotations.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work on a team.

Responsibilities

• Work on a brand new 24 bed complex surgical unit (all ages) including Orthopedics, General Surgery & Urology, Solid Organ Transplant and End Stage Renal Disease patients.
• Provide basic direct patient care under supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Assist patients with feeding and hygiene, take routine measurements (temperature, pulse, BP) and document appropriately.
• Transport patients, supplies and equipment as needed.
• Identify and report changes in patient condition to RN.

Key Responsibilities:

• Working on a brand new 24 bed complex surgical unit (all ages), including Orthopedics, General Surgery & Urology, Solid Organ Transplant and End Stage Renal Disease patients.
• Being under regular supervision and following established procedures and instructions, providing basic direct care to patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse.
• Assisting patients with feeding and hygiene, obtaining, measuring and recording routine information such as temperature, pulse and blood pressure, and performing other related duties according to specific needs of unit.
• Transporting patients, supplies and equipment as needed.
• Identifying and reporting unusual findings or changes in patient condition to Registered Nurse.
• Working 36-hours per week, permanent night shifts with every other weekend.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

• A HS Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

• 1 year CA experience, CNA Certification, or one round of clinical rotations.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work on a team.
