Position Title: Breast Surgeon – Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor
Location: University at Buffalo, Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences
Department: Surgery

The University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences invites applications for a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor specializing in Breast Surgery. We are seeking an energetic and dynamic surgeon to lead our comprehensive Breast Cancer and Breast Disease Program in Western New York. This leadership role provides a unique opportunity to build and advance a patient-centered, research-driven breast surgery program with a strong focus on improving outcomes and eliminating healthcare disparities, particularly among underserved populations.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership: Lead and develop a robust clinical program in breast surgery that provides cutting-edge, compassionate care for breast cancer and breast disease patients across Western New York.

Patient Outcomes and Quality Improvement: Engage in initiatives to improve surgical outcomes, implement evidence-based practices, and innovate care models that increase access to high-quality breast care for all, especially those in underserved communities.

Health Equity and Disparities Reduction: Champion strategies to address and reduce disparities in breast cancer outcomes, focusing on underserved and minority populations. Work collaboratively with public health experts and community organizations to increase awareness, accessibility, and preventive measures.

Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with specialists in oncology, radiology, genetics, and primary care to offer comprehensive, coordinated care, and expand the program’s outreach and impact through an interdisciplinary approach.

Research and Education: Engage in clinical and population health research to advance breast cancer treatment and prevention strategies, and mentor students, residents, and junior faculty in best practices for breast health management.

Qualifications:
Education:
MD or equivalent medical degree with board certification in General Surgery and fellowship training in Breast Surgery.
Experience:
Prior experience leading or participating in breast cancer programs is preferred. A strong commitment to advancing healthcare equity and prior experience in serving underserved populations will be highly valued.
Skills:
Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality patient care, a commitment to research and educational excellence, and a collaborative spirit to lead a team of multidisciplinary providers.
